Lower Dolpa trek offers a real adventurous tripping through remote and rocky natural unspoiled corner simply beyond the Himalayan valleys across western Nepal. The Dolpa region conserves one of the last bits and pieces of traditional Tibetan culture where the pre-Buddhist Bon-Po religion is still in observe. High mountains including the Dhaulagiri to the southeast surround this spiritual sanctuary. Dolpo region provides the opportunities to visit ancient villages, high passes, beautiful Lakes, isolated Buddhist monasteries and also to experience the vast collection of wildlife inhabiting the region in Nepal. Dolpo region preserved Eco-system encompasses a wild and wonderful variety of flora and fauna, including Blue sheep, Mountain Goat, Jackal, Wolf and the legendary Snow Leopard. Dolpo is a truly isolated beauty of Nepal. Still, here for centuries as inhabitants of Tibetan stock continues to live, cultivate and trade the way they have done for hundreds of years. The east and south of it is bordered by the Dhaulagiri and Churen Himal ranges and to the west by Jumla district. Trekking in Lower Dolpo offers you the remarkable and worthwhile experience of lifetime and altitude ranges from 2500m to 5,190m. Dolpo region has given birth of Peter Matthiessen’s masterpiece and best selling book’ Snow Leopards’ and Eric Valli’s Oscar nominated movie CARAVAN (also known HIMALAYA) was featured in this isolated Himalayan sanctuary, etc are the historical and the way to identify the very region. After exploring historical/cultural sights of Kathmandu valley and obtaining special permit for the lower Dopla trekking we take our flight to Jhupal via Nepalganj. We trek continuous to Shey- Phoksundo National Park before joining ancient Nepal Tibet trade route and enjoy the views of lower Dolpa valley. Eventually you can hear prayer flag fluttering at the top of the pass, and the view opens up dramatically looking east towards the snow peaks of the Kanjiroba and majestic Dhaulagiri range. We soon walk through the pleasant green pastures to the unspoiled Phoksundo Lake full of crystal deep blue fresh water contrasting with the weathered red and brown hills. On our trek to Dolpa the trek descends to the Jhupal airstrip to end our historical trip of lifetime to Dolpa, the land of mystery, scenery and peace.
