Trip duration: 7 days Starts from: Kathmandu Ending to: Kathmandu Best season: Spring and autumn

Day 1   Kathmandu to Shyabru Besi 1503m/4945Ft. 8-9 hrs drive Taking local bus early in the morning or a private four wheels drive journey from Kathmandu, we reach Shyapru Bensi, gateway to the Langtang Valley at the meeting of the Bhote Kosi and Langtang Rivers. Interesting scenic driving and passing through Trisuli Bazaar, Ramche Gaon and Dhunche Bazaar makes you’re driving- scenic. Narrow and bit adventurous zig zags road but amazing landscape along the way driving will make you good start day drive of the trek.

Day 2 Shyabru Besi to Chawatar (lunch) to Gatlang 2337m/7690ft. 5- 6 hrs hike  A soil track zig-zags to the west up to Bahun Danda Pass and then down to the Tamang settlement of Gatlang, a cornerstone village on the Tamang Heritage Trail or hike to Gatlang by way of Chawatar. Gatlang is a Tamang village with unique customs and craftsmanship in a magnificent setting. Above, lies Parvati Kund (Gosai Kunda), popular during Janai Purnima when thousands of pilgrims are attracted to the very sacred pond and nearby temple. Day 3 Gatlang to Parvati Kund/Gosai Kunda ,Yuri Kharka (lunch) to Somdang                                                                                                                                     3271m/10760Ft. 6-7 hrs  The trail ascends through pine and rhododendron forest to our lunch point of Yuri Kharka before continuing to Khurphu Bhanjyang and then dropping down to the Somdang River, border between Rasuwaa and Dhading districts. A expansive mining compound, no longer functioning but it seems locals appealing government to revive it, lies a few hours to the north upriver. The hike passes through a scenic valley featuring the 200 m Chukarma Waterfall. The former mine leaves a lot be explored and is the site of a 1.4 km tunnel bored into the mountain to extract zinc, copper, tin, crystal and even highly-prized rubies. Day 4 Somdang - Pangsang Pass (3842 m) - Tipling 2078m/6835Ft. 6-7 hrs Pangsang Kharka is a viewpoint southwest of Somdang village with a broad panorama of the surrounding terrain. To the north are the soaring peaks of Manaslu and the Ganesh Himal Range. The large meadow is graced with a giant entry gateway and is a sensational location for camping and taking in the breathtaking scenery. The whole Ganesh Himal region is blessed with abundant herbal plants. Previously, herbs were taken to Tibet along an ancient trade route and exchanged for salt, livestock and wool. Descending to Tipling, a large village that hosts two Buddhist Gombas and both a Protestant and Catholic church we follow upward trail. Along a ridge top to the east is a gomba and cremation ground for both Buddhists and Christians lined with colorful flags. Being a majority of Tamang people it has beautiful Tamang culture show. Tamang people have own rich culture to show for the visitors jhankri or shaman dance, ghode or horse dance, said to have been brought from Tibetan culture long ago. Jhankri (shaman) activity is robust in this territory with the worship of natural forces and indigenous local deities interwoven with Hindu and Buddhist practices. Mane dance, Mendo Maya, Paru dance and Ghode (horse) dance as well as Lama (monk) dance are moderately popular.

Day 5 Tipling – Shertung/Chalish – Borang Village 1700m/5610Ft. 5- 6 hrs The more we descend to cross the Adhi Khola on a box bridge and ascend to the sister villages of Shertung and Chalishe, majestically overlooking the fertile river valley and abundant fields. Shertung is inhabited mainly by Tamang. The name Shertung means 'place of gold'. According to a legend , two brothers in search of gold were led here by a dream and thus the settlement was born. Tamang people have own rich culture to show for the visitors Jhankri or shaman dance, ghode or horse dance, said to have been brought from Tibetan culture long ago. Jhankri (shaman) activity is robust in this territory with the worship of natural forces and indigenous local deities interwoven with Hindu and Buddhist practices. Chalishe is inhabited first and foremost by Gurung, Ghale and Kami. There used to be Newar people but they migrated to Kathmandu city. The friendly people of this area have unique customs and craftsmanship and traditional dances, including a cordial welcome dance, Ghatu Dance, Dohori is also popular with call and response between male and female participants, a type of courtship ritual, complemented by folk music. Some dances depend on the time of year and take place during festivals including the Maruni Dance during Dasain and Tihar, Hai Nelo Dance of Tihar, and the Ghatu (Ghasiri Dance) that occurs during Chandi Purnima in the Nepali month of Chaitra. Gurung men traditionally wear vangra, a woven, embroidered cotton cloth tied at the ends that serves as a pouch for carrying goods. Sri Tinkanya Devi Mandir lies above Chalishe. Local women tie bits of cloth or leave a bangle representing a wish to be fulfilled near a small pool of water surrounded by Barmase or periwinkle flowers. Have lunch in Shertung or in Chalishe village and then trek continue to Boring. If you have lunch at Shertung village you trek to Borang via Ayui village whereas trekking via Chalishe will be passing through Gobre gaun. Tamang community village and similar culture of Tipling and Shertung village will be found. Day 6 Borang - Percho (lunch) to Darkha Gaun 850m/2805Ft 7-8 hrs

After breakfast, trek fallows the entire down trail to Lishne khola (2 ½ hours walking) and continues to Percho, where we stop for lunch and head to Darkha Gaon. Passing through suspension bridges, breath taking views of Ankhu khola and Chyamchyat as well as 'Ree' village other side of the river. Finally, we reach at Darkha gaun. This village is mix-culture village of Brahmin people and Tamang as well as Dalit (so called the lower casts).

Day 7 Darkha Gaun – Dhading Besi to Kathmandu 1310m /4323ft 6 -7 hrs drive  After breakfast, trek all the way down to Darkha Phedi taking 45 minutes downhill walk and then take local Jeep sharing with other people and the arrive in Dhading Bensi after 3-4 hours rough and tough road-drive. Crossing through Ankhu Khola as well as Kimdang phedi villages, Katunje and Jyamrung village, will make you fun driving having upon fabulous landscape surroundings. From Dhading, we change another bus and drive back to Kathmandu taking 3 hours via Prithivi high way drive.

Acclimatization:

Our Ganesh Himal Cultural Home Stay challenging trek itinerary is planned with an awareness of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). Going up too fast causes a medical condition serious enough to kill you. The higher the altitude the less oxygen is in air. For example, there is 50% less oxygen than of the sea level. Your body needs some days to adapt to this ‘less oxygen’ environment. So for a safe trek, it is absolutely essential to allow sufficient time for acclimatization. Sensible planning is therefore required to minimize the risk of AMS. We especially advise the guest(s) with known heart, lungs or blood diseases to consult their doctor before traveling. Mild headaches, fever, loss of appetite or stomach disorder are symptoms of AMS.

All of our trekking leaders are carefully selected on the basis of their experience appropriate to each individual trek. With an objective of sustaining local communities All Trekkers Team supplies only Nepalese staffs that have adequate knowledge about culture, ecosystem, flora, fauna, geography, and history of Nepal. Trek leaders of ATTm are also trained with and educated on potential medical issues during their trek, biodiversity and environmental issues:

The Trekking Group:

For the Ganesh Himal Cultural Home Stay challenging trek, there will be one guide, assistant guide and Sherpa porters for luggage carrying (2 trekkers:1 porter) This arrangement ensures that should anybody in the group become sick, the trip can still go ahead as planned. We can run the   Ganesh Himal Cultural Home Stay challenging trek for group of any size, but generally have a maximum of twelve people, as we've found this to be the optimum size for a successful trip. However, if you'd like to make a group booking for more than twelve people together, we can arrange this.

Porter Care:

Though often overlooked, it is important to mention. The trekking and expedition companies in Nepal are built on the back of hard working local porters. It is their tireless efforts carrying supplies, equipment and baggage that make the journeys to these remote areas possible. So it's very sad for that there is a history of exploitation and abuse at the hands of the industry. In an effort to combat this, we are firmly committed to porter rights. We assure all our porters are to be well treated, well paid and we provide a decent level of shelter, clothing and footwear. Porters who become sick are to be treated with the same care, attention as other team members - to rescue porters from dangerous situations is our duty. And for the porter's sake we inform that all trekkers keep their luggage bag weight to a maximum of 15kgs. If you need to have more weight than this additional porters can be hired.  Thus we support the working conditions of the porters

Health and Experience Required:

Walking in this high Mountain Region usually requires maximum 6-8 hours of walking every day.  Climbing in the high mountain is the challenging part of your adventure and will require long hours of walking. You should be prepared max 14 Km of walking or jogging exercise everyday 1 month before your Trek starts. And also a positive attitude and a strong determination are important.  Previous hiking/camping experience is good to have but technical experience is not required.

Travel Insurance:

It is a condition of joining any of our trips that you be protected with an insurance policy.  Should medial issues or accidents (to include air ambulance, helicopter rescue, and treatment costs) happen it is important to be prepared. Please mind that we do not arrange or sell insurance.
